What is a DUIN Notification?

A DUIN notification is a reporting process introduced under the UK REACH regulation, which came into force after the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union.

If you were previously registered under EU REACH before Brexit, you may need to submit a Downstream User Import Notification (DUIN) to maintain market access in Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales).

Chemleg is ready to assist you with this process.

Who Needs a DUIN?

The following actors may be required to submit a DUIN notification:

  • Non-UK manufacturers exporting chemicals to the Great Britain
  • EU-based companies that previously supplied chemicals to the Great Britain
  • Great Britain based importers relying on EU suppliers for chemical substances

How Does the DUIN Process Work?

To benefit from the DUIN notification route, GB importers and UK Only Representatives (ORs) of existing substance under existing supply can make Downstream User Import Notification (DUIN) by 27 October 2021. Late DUIN notification is still possible. After this process, they need to submit an inquiry dossier to HSE before registration.

What Is the Purpose of a DUIN Notification?

A DUIN notification allows companies to continue their activities in Great Britain for a limited period without interruption. Before this period expires, a full UK REACH registration must be submitted.
